New Lexus LBX: new small model coming in June

► New Lexus LBX teased
► Will be revealed on 5 June
► Likely a small crossover

Lexus has announced an all-new model is to join its range: LBX. The new model is to be revealed on 5 June 2023. And that’s about all we know, officially, about the new model.

However, the images and name provide a little context as for what to expect. The darkened silhouette of the rear lights looks almost like a crossover SUV, with some of Lexus’ design details seen in the image of the front headlight.

We can speculate about the name, too; L likely stands for Lexus, B likely points to the B-segment market (so Ford Puma, Vauxhall Mokka etc.) and X again implies it’s an SUV – or something akin to one. Here, Lexus is very likely building something akin to the Toyota Yaris Cross, albeit with the Lexus brand’s sharp design cues and plusher interior.

It’s a market segment Lexus currently isn’t in, and is likely attracted to joining given the prevalence and success of baby crossovers. It’ll also likely aid in recapturing some of the customers it had with the CT hatchback on sale until a few years ago.

Other than that, though, we’ll just have to wait until 5 June for more details.
